The calculation of Tourism Employment in the second quarter of 2024 was carried out based on the National Survey of Occupation and Employment (New Edition) (ENOEN) of the INEGI and the methodology approved by the Specialized Technical Committee of Economic Statistics of the Tourism Sector (CTEEEST), made up of the INEGI, the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare (STPS), the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) and Sectur.
The head of Sectur highlighted the growth of tourism employment in Mexico, especially the importance of micro, small and medium-sized businesses, which together with large companies generate formal jobs, and which in turn contribute to generating economic benefits in destinations, thus complying with the instructions of the president, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, to make tourism a tool for social reconciliation.
