CellPoint Digital, a leading provider of payment solutions for airlines, hotels and travel worldwide and a pioneer in payment management, today announced a new partnership with Arajet, the Caribbean’s fast-growing low-cost airline in the Americas.
To achieve its growth ambitions in North America and Latin America, Arajet needed a sophisticated payments network and payment infrastructure provider capable of powering a wide range of alternative payment methods (APMs), while minimizing transaction costs and facilitating expansion into new markets. Therefore, partnering with CellPoint Digital, which offers a comprehensive payment solution with a long track record of success in the Latin American region, was a natural next step in Arajet’s growth path. Among other benefits, the partnership will enable Arajet to quickly introduce support for critical new APMs on its flights across Mexico, Brazil and Colombia using CellPoint Digital’s unique API connection.
The young airline began operations in 2022 and is based at Santo Domingo's Las Américas Airport. Arajet is the national flag carrier of the Dominican Republic, with 23 destinations in 16 countries. Arajet is positioned as a Dominican national project aimed at supporting the country's tourism and travel industry and the entire region, and is the only airline that connects Santo Domingo with Toronto and Montreal through direct flights with a fleet of 10 737 Max 8 aircraft and aims to expand the reach of its network in North America.
Arajet’s business model is based on operating profitable flights between North and South America, with stops at its bases in Santo Domingo and Punta Cana. The airline’s long-term goal is to reduce airfares throughout the Americas, leveraging its fleet of 10 fuel-efficient Boeing 737 Max 8 aircraft and planning to double its route network in the coming years.
According to Kristian Gjerding, CEO of CellPoint Digital, “Arajet, like new and innovative low-fare airlines, plays a crucial role in facilitating affordable travel and connecting populations. Innovative payment technology is key to helping them remain competitive and thrive.” He added, “Our payment management solution, developed to help global airlines scale organically, also enables Arajet to activate new value-added payment services as new markets come online, generating additional revenue.”
Victor Miguel Pacheco Méndez, CEO and founder of Arajet, added: “As a developing airline growing in the region, we needed a partner that would enable us to efficiently manage payments and support our expansion ambitions to continue offering attractive fares to our passengers. In this regard, CellPoint Digital is our ideal partner: its APM ecosystem fits the payment preferences of our target markets.”
