The International Tourism Fair, organised by IFEMA MADRID from 22 to 26 January, has announced during its third day the 45th Best Stand Awards and the 6th Sustainable Stand Awards, which recognise the design, image and functionality of the stands, as well as their commitment to sustainable participation.

Winners of the VI FITUR 2025 Sustainable Stand Awards

Sustainability is the backbone of FITUR and, in order to make visible the efforts of tourist destinations and exhibiting companies that participate in the largest international tourism event in line with the SDGs, FITUR is calling for the Sustainable Stand Awards.

On this occasion, the winners were Grupo Piñero, for its commitment to training stand staff and its comprehensive sustainability project; Castelldefels City Council, for its example of intelligently reusing materials without the need for transformation for completely different purposes; Paradores, for the development of a specific sustainability plan for FITUR 2025 with the aim of achieving a carbon-neutral event; Turismo de Extremadura; for its double commitment to the quantified reuse of materials and to promoting accessible tourism; and B&B HOTELS, which surprises with the double life of materials such as fishing nets rescued from the ocean.

Furthermore, on the third day of FITUR, the Awards for the Best Stands for their aesthetics and staging were also announced. In the category of autonomous communities, the Canary Islands, the Government of Cantabria and the Basque Country of the Basque Country were the winners, Oman Ministry of Heritage & Tourism, the Dominican Republic and the Tourism Authority of Thailand in the international category, and in the corporate category, Sandos Hotels, Iberia Líneas Aéreas Españolas and Hesperia World were awarded.

Canary Islands, Cantabria and Euskadi, winners in Autonomous Communities

The Canary Islands stand is presented as a place where everything flows and converges and where the nature and colour of the archipelago are shown to visitors in a spectacle of marine movement made of light. In addition, the integration of technology in screens and LED tubes stands out, which blend into the landscape without overshadowing the organic essence.

The Community of Cantabria is shown through a unique geometry replicated hundreds of times, like a fractal, in different sizes, colours and even textures. Rustic elements are mixed with cutting-edge technology in a way that is as natural as it is authentic, with the hexagon being the common thread of this kaleidoscopic loop that moves from one state to another with a vital rhythm just as nature does in the Cantabrian landscapes.

Finally, Euskadi Basque Country defines itself in a clear and powerful way. Made up almost entirely of different prismatic volumes of wood and/or screens, it creates a serious, resounding, deep and powerful space. The perspectives, generated with architectural mastery, draw a Euskadi of undeniable strength, solid, but also accessible to anyone who wants to visit it.

Oman, Dominican Republic and Thailand awarded in Countries and Regions

Oman, a country full of traditions, presents its most contemporary face at FITUR with a reinterpretation of traditional architecture: the simple mud house, warm and closed inwards, is now transformed into a monolithic volume of immaculate white, full of light and with large windows to the outside created thanks to screens that allow a view of the most attractive landscapes of this country.

Once again, the Dominican Republic has been surprised with a large, completely immersive space that offers a great experience to all who come. The seabed of the Dominican Caribbean, white sand beaches or moments full of color envelop visitors even from afar, allowing them to virtually feel what their destinations could be like in an instant.

For its part, with a space that breathes folklore, Thailand manages to draw attention to its crafts, its geography and its people in a colorful celebration that relies on the different textile fabrics, considered cultural heritage of the country, and achieves a play of emotions that goes beyond the best-known Thai prints.

Iberia, Hesperia World and Sandos Hotels, awarded Best Stand in the Business category

At the 45th edition of FITUR, Iberia is opting for a minimalist image, full of light, but with a slight futuristic touch that may remind us of a Kubrik image. Its clear surfaces stand out, with a restrained chromaticism that, through the “Iberia Red”, indicates the important points of the stand. The organic shapes of clouds that cross its planes accompany the entire scene poetically and offer a visual oasis within the pavilion, the Iberia experience.

Hesperia World has chosen a fresh and fun image that reflects its spirit of authenticity through geometric prints and a retro colour scheme. Ceilings, lamps, curtains, furniture and, in general, all the decorative elements, combine to create compartmentalisations that are sometimes subtle and sometimes more marked, but which propose spaces as unique as the chain's hotels themselves.

With a naive touch of good taste, Sandos Hotels & Resorts offers reasons to smile in a perfectly organized space and gives a special shot to the “jewel in the crown”, a curtain that moves with the gentle Mediterranean breeze, gardens that invite meditation. Rest, well-being and beauty, Zem Wellness exudes the luxury of personal care.
