During the week, a projection of investments for Yucatan for 11,164 million Mexican Pesos in hotel, restaurant and tourism infrastructure projects that will generate 10,437 direct and 24,843 indirect jobs, of which 73% were announced will perform inside the state.

The governor of the state, Mauricio Vila Dosal, accompanied by the head of the Secretariats of Tourism Development, Michelle Fridman, the Secretary of Economic Development and Labor, Ernesto Herrera Novelo, representatives of the government of Yucatan, investors and representatives of the tourism industry, highlighted These new investments are added to those announced in January and July, which together reach an investment certainty of 23,700 million Mexican pesos and the creation of 17,010 direct and 54,120 indirect sources of work.

Thus, in just 11 months, the current Yucatan administration will have guaranteed investment certainty for more than 40,000 million pesos, which represents an important boost to the economic dynamics of the state and the creation of thousands of jobs.

Among the investments in the tourism sector are companies such as Grupo Xcaret, which will invest 3,314 million pesos in the construction of 3 boutique hotels and two ecotourism parks; For its part, Grupo Aura will invest 2,752 million pesos in the construction of real estate complexes in Mérida and Telchac Puerto.

Also, Carlos Crovet will make an investment of more than 1,006 million pesos to establish 3 new hotels in Mérida. TAO Mexico will make an investment of 895 million pesos to build an ecological real estate complex in the port of Sisal.

Hacienda Xcanatún, belonging to Banyan Tree hotels, will make an investment of 880 million pesos to expand its capacity. For its part, Grupo Posadas will invest in 2 hotels in Mérida, 297.5 million pesos, under the brands IOH Hotels and One Centro

Thus, with the arrival of new real estate and hotel projects, the state will increase its hotel capacity from 13,800 rooms to more than 15,000.

In the event, it was highlighted that according to the information provided by Datatur, in the first half of the year, Yucatan had a 17.3% growth in the arrival of overnight visitors with respect to the same period of the previous year and generated an economic spill of 4,122 million pesos, 22% more compared to 2018.

During that same period, the International Airport of the City of Merida had a passenger increase of 14.12%, also due to the 6 new routes in the last 6 months.

On the other hand, the arrival of cruise ships to Puerto de Progreso was highlighted, where 76 cruises have arrived, which together have managed to bring about 250 thousand tourists. To respond to the arrival of cruise tourists, local and Federal Government will invest 500 million pesos as part of the program to improve urban tourism infrastructure, an investment that will be complemented with the 56 million pesos that will be used to remodel the House of Culture of Progreso and street improvement.

It is worth mentioning that next months Yucatan will host two important events, the 17th edition of the World Summit of the Nobel Peace Prizes, to be held next September, and the Tianguis Turístico, to be held in March 2020.

To receive the most important tourist showcase in the country, the expansion of the Yucatán Siglo XXI Exhibition Center is being carried out, which will go from 13,000 square meters to 23,000 square meters.

Thus, the current administration continues to promote both the tourism development of Yucatan and the improvement of the quality of life in the entity, by promoting the generation of formal jobs both in Merida and in the interior of the state.
