Sectur announces the internationalization of Tianguis de Pueblos Mágicos
The Secretary of Tourism of the Government of Mexico announced that this year the event will take place outside the country
This morning, the Secretary of Tourism of the Government of Mexico, Miguel Torruco Marqués, inaugurated the IX Anáhuac-NRM Communications Conference, which this year has as its central theme: “Tourist Perspectives for Mexico 2020”, which is presented by the Research Center and Tourism Competitiveness Anahuac.
In accordance with the proposed theme, the head of the Ministry of Tourism explained to the participants that within the main actions that are planned to be carried out during this year is the participation of Mexico in at least twelve of the main tourist fairs international, for which an investment of around twenty million pesos was made to pay the floor right at the fairs in Madrid, Sao Paulo, New York, Frankfurt, Paris, Bogotá, Cartagena, Buenos Aires, Berlin, Las Vegas and London.
Also, this year the Tianguis Turístico will be based in Mérida, in Yucatán; while the second edition of the Tianguis de Pueblos Mágicos will take place in the city of San Luis Potosí.
Regarding both events, he said that, on the Tourist Tianguis, they are working hard in coordination with the authorities of Yucatan, "and I assure you that it will be a very busy and high-level event," he said.
In addition, he added that the Tourism Tianguis, the main meeting of the sector, will evolve, so he will soon announce in Acapulco, together with the governor of the state of Guerrero, Héctor Astudillo, a change of format to adapt it to modern times in terms of science, technology and entertainment, since it currently maintains the same format with which it was born in the 70s of the last century.
While on the second, he announced that the Magic Towns will be internationalized, since this year the Ministry of Tourism in charge will organize abroad the first Tianguis International of Magical Towns, for which it already has sponsorships to buy the floor rights and to finance it. In due course he will release the details.
He added that among the actions contemplated for this year is to continue with the “Operation Knock on Doors” program, mainly in five cities in the United States: Los Angeles, San Antonio, Houston, Chicago and New York, from which 45.2 percent of All tourists arriving in Mexico by air from that country.
Secretary Torruco Marqués also commented that the Ministry of Tourism recently signed a collaboration agreement with the National Foreign Trade Bank and with National Financial to grant loans to companies in the tourism sector, mainly small and medium-sized ones, with a section addressed to those who lend services or sell a product in the Magical Towns.
For his part, Edilberto Huesca Perrotín, chairman of the Board of Directors of NRM Comunicaciones, said that, as we all know, tourism is a fundamental hub for the economic development of the country, and therefore, with his daily work and business activity, its support for the federal government's objectives of strengthening Mexico's tourism industry.
In turn, Cipriano Sánchez García, rector of the Universidad Anáhuac, endorsed the commitment of this academic institution “with this momentous activity that not only generates significant economic benefits for our country, but is also called to leave a benefactor mark in millions and millions of Mexican families, ”he said.
In the presidium that led the inauguration of this Conference, Braulio Arsuaga Losada, general director of Grupo Presidente, also took part; and José Ángel Díaz Rebolledo, director of the Faculty of Tourism of the Universidad Anáhuac.
